That evening I had summoned the courage and with the moral support of my good friend Wendy. I made the first cut.
Cutting the steeks was a leap of faith for me. It just doesn't seem normal to cut your knitting at all. It all went very well and the sweater didn't fall apart. The edges barely even frayed. I was impressed. Now I have the collar done and am working on the buttonbands. I hope to have the sleeves started by the time we leave for Gibson's on Tuesday. I had sucha big order of Kauni EQ come in that I was sure I would have some to take to The Gibson's Fiberfest with me but it all sold. I still have the other colours and am once again taking pre orders for the EQ. The new shipment should arrive about Aug 3oth.

Phew! Now that you are an experienced steeker, I will be coming to you when I am at that point.
It made me cringe just looking at your pictures! I've started mine twice now. Kept changing my mind about the colour combinations.
Can't wait to see pics of your cardigan all done.

Hello, I am new At this, and am in awe confused!! What is steeking? I am cutting into knitting that I have quickly knitted up and it frays all the time with all the small ends fraying, it must be something to do with steeking.
Just had a looksee at the Kal cardi..am soooo excited just brought Ruths new "autumn" pattern and ordered the yarn from Garnbutik...cannot wait for it to come...never knitted a cardi in the round B4 or done any steeking...so it is going to be a big learning curve for me...doing the background of it in the white/cream/caramel and the leaves in red.....hoping it will look good...anyway once I get started will post a few things on my blog...also am waiting for yarn and book to come for the Great American Aran Afghan....thought would throw myself into something demanding, rather than the usual socks/gloves/baby knitting etc.Heres to knitty fun....
